Athlete's Participation Agreement

• I will behave in a Christ-like manner while involved with WAHAA activities.
• I will demonstrate respect to coaches, teammates, fans, opposing teams, and officials.
• I will keep my commitment to the team and attend all practices/games. (If I have to miss, I will contact the coach with a valid reason.)
• If I have a concern or conflict that needs resolution, I will ask for an appropriate time to talk to the coach (not before/during/immediately after a game). If the matter is not resolved, I will request a meeting with the coach and athletic director. I will not spread my personal concern or conflict among other team members.
• I will not use profanity or offensive, demeaning speech during practices, games, or anywhere I represent WAHAA.
• I will not bully another individual from my organization or an opponent’s organization. Bullying is defined as conduct, gestures, or comments (verbal or written, orally or via electronic communication) which are insulting, intimidating, humiliating, hurtful, malicious, or degrading and which create a hostile or intimidating environment, or which negatively affect a player or player’s performance.
• I will not use banned or illegal substances.

I have read, understand, and agree to comply with the Athlete’s Participation Agreement as outlined above.
I/We have read, understand, and agree to comply with the Consent Form as outlined above.

Eligibility Agreement

I understand that WAHAA is a homeschool organization and in order to be eligible to play for WAHAA, an athlete must be 51% homeschooled.
“Homeschooling” is defined as a student’s education that is parent-directed. This includes the parent taking responsibility for the following: (1) setting the date and requirements for high school graduation; (2) selecting and approving course materials and study schedules; and (3) selecting tutors, correspondence courses, videos, computer courses, and similar resources for the child’s education.
I certify that my child is homeschooled based on the above guidelines or is educated through an approved educational alternative.

I/We have read, understand, and agree to comply with the Eligibility Agreement as outlined above.

Liability Release

I understand and fully accept that there are risks involved in sports and that accidents and injuries are common and are ordinary occurrences of sports. I agree to accept any and all risks of injury or death. I understand that WAHAA is not liable for any injury incurred during the sport season.
I release and hold harmless WAHAA, staff, volunteers, coaches, and program officials from all liability and from all actions or claims that I now or hereafter have for damage or injury to me or my family member, or to any person or property, resulting from the negligence or other acts of employees or volunteers in connection with me or my family’s participation. I further agree that this waiver, release, and assumption of risks is to be binding on the heirs and assigns of the undersigned. I further agree to indemnify and to hold WAHAA (its officers, employees, agents, and volunteers) free and harmless from any loss, liability, damage, cost, or expense which they may incur as a result of any injury and/or property damage that I or my family may cause or sustain while participating in this activity.

Parent Medical Consent

In case of a medical emergency during a WAHAA-related activity, I hereby give permission to WAHAA coaches or the athletic director to order treatment for my child, including any necessary medical treatment and x-rays. I also hereby give permission to WAHAA coaches/athletic director to disclose information concerning my child to medical personnel. I understand that an attempt will be made to reach me by phone in case of such emergency. I agree to pay all medical, hospital, or other expenses which my child may incur as a result of such treatment.

Parent’s Participation Agreement

• I understand it is my responsibility to help my child uphold the Player Participation Agreement.
• I will behave in a Christ-like manner while attending WAHAA activities.
• I recognize this is my child’s journey, not mine, and I will focus on being a supportive and encouraging parent. Likewise, I will be encouraging to the other players in the organization.
• I recognize that all players are expected to give their best, to work hard, and to embrace their role, but that not all players will have equal playing time.
• I will not coach my child or the team from the sideline/stands so as not to distract from the voice of the coaching staff. I will cheer and offer encouragement from the sidelines/stands.
• I will not berate or badger the officials.
• I will be supportive of the coaches, remembering that they are volunteering and sacrificing their time and efforts for our children. I will encourage my child to communicate any issues, questions, or concerns he or she has with his or her coach at an appropriate time.
• I will not approach the coach before/during/immediately after a game to discuss issues; rather, I will contact the coach to arrange a time to discuss concerns or questions. If the matter is not resolved, I will request a meeting with the coach and the athletic director. I will not spread my personal concern or conflict inside or outside the organization.
• I will support the team and program by volunteering my services when needed. I recognize the entire program is dependent on committed volunteers.
• I will pay my child’s fees within the timeline provided. If unforeseen circumstances arise and I cannot pay in full by the due date, I will proactively communicate with the clerk or athletic director to reach an approved alternative timeline or recognize that my children’s eligibility on the team may be in jeopardy.
• I understand that the sport fee is non-refundable and will be paid in full, regardless of whether my child completes the season. (Hardship cases may be brought before the athletic director.)
• I understand that uniforms and other apparel/equipment must be returned at the end of the season in good condition.

*Agreement
I/We have read, understand, and agree to comply with the Parent’s Participation Agreement as outlined above. Violation of any of these rules by the parent or participant may result in dismissal from the program or result in a probationary status for the coming year. An individual on probation will be immediately removed from the program upon violation of any of these rules. Individuals (or families) placed on probation will be notified in writing from the Board of Directors. Appeals process is available.

Parental Permission to Participate

I give permission for my child to participate in sports/activities sponsored by the Wichita Area Homeschool Athletic Association (WAHAA).
I certify that my child is in good health and able to physically and psychologically meet the requirements of the sport in which he/she is participating. If a physical or medical reason should arise that would prevent my child from participating fully, WAHAA requires a doctor’s release before activity can be resumed.
